The Rainforest Collection

They didnt quite turn out how I planned, the idea was to do cutesy but authentic rainforest creatures suitable for a babys room but I just couldnt help myself doing them realistically. So I wont hold my breath waiting for Disney to call but I am quite pleased with them. Maybe the parents-to-be can put them away for 5 years or so.

Potential paintings

These are a couple of studies that I am considering for full blown paintings. The first is from a photo by Richard, a seriously good traditional artist (check out his gallery) http://r601020.deviantart.com/ and a fine photographer too http://www.modelmayhem.com/283305 - thanks again Richard. The second is derived from a pose I saw in a magazine and thought had some interesting potential. Need to finish my rainforest series for 'Spud' first though - watch this space, frogs have knees too!

July Life workshop

A few highlights from this months life workshop. Jade was an excellent model, she manged a good variety of poses including some very difficult ones. A good model really does make a huge difference to the end result. Most of these are 20 - 30 minutes apart from the painting which was an hour.

Virtually Life

If you didnt see the excellent series screened on Channel 4 last week - Life Class: Today's Nude I recommend catching up with it on their website and having a go at some drawing. It is quite a good bridge between working from photos and a real life class despite the fact its still two dimensional. The slight pressure of getting the information down quickly was real enough and there are some good nuggets of info from the artists demonstrating. Life drawing is a great leveller and I found some of the professionals results suprisingly encouraging!!!!
These are my efforts, anything from 5 - 20 minutes I reckon. Go on, give it a go.
