New method

I just recently finished this one and am quite pleased with it.  Usually I work on a painting constantly till its finished but I started this before Christmas and then came back to it a few months later.

Oil on Linen
16" x 20"

I was interested in a more layered approach and started with a really smooth lead primed canvas, and did the drawing with rubber brushes - not sure exactly what they are called or even what they are for but I like them.  Blunt tools stop you getting too fiddly.

Then I just threw paint down, sparingly and intuitively letting it evolve naturally.

Red on red

The regular Tuesday night sessions have been extended by half an hour so the long pose is a bit longer now.  This is a good thing....mostly.  The charm of life drawings can be spoilt if they are overworked - so its a case of needing to strike the right balance.  Simples!
