Aspect ratios and composition

These are some of the paintings I have been working on over the last few months at the life sessions.  I am really keen on the panoramic aspect ratio and like the fact that the compostion almost decides itself.  They dont all work that way of course but those split second decisions can be interesting.  They are a good size for the time too, 20 x 50cm in about an hour and 15 minutes and I like leaving some of the raw linen showing when its a neutral tone.

This one doesnt look so bad now but I scraped it off as soon as I got home, it was fun to do but but a mad race against time.
Thinking about composition and placement and abstract backgrounds.
